First Piggy Bank

Ingredients needed: A piggy bank, some coins

Description: This activity is somewhat of a tradition in some parts.  A new piggy bank is presented to the Mommy-To-Be, with a few coins in it.  As it is passed around for the oohs and aahs, each guest contributes a few more coins.  

How to get ready:  Its fairly easy to prepare for this activity.  Just find the perfect piggy bank for the child, whether it's the standard round pink ceramic one, a Name-Branded one, or a stylish multicolored one.  Then provide a few coins to start the ball rolling.  Once the pig has passed all the way around, there's quite a collection started.

Helpful stuff:   As I mentioned, this is a tradition - but it's not known to everyone!  The first time I saw it, everyone seemed to know what to do.  The next time I saw it, hardly anyone contributed.  If you want full participation, you might want to forewarn your guests to come with a few coins.  If you don't want to ask for money, you can add your coins once the gift is opened.  This may give your guests the right idea, but expect a few - those who don't get it and those who just don't have any coins - not to contribute.
