Pins & Rice

Preparation Time:  10 Minutes

Duration:  15 Minutes

Ingredients needed: Bowl of Rice, various size safety pins, a 30 second timer, a blindfold

Description: Guests have 30 seconds to find as many safety pins as they can in a bowl of rice, while blindfolded.  Add up the points to see who wins!

How to get ready:  Get a bowl and fill it with rice.  Dump some safety pins of various sizes into the bowl and mix it all together.  You can actually do several bowls, so several people can do this at the same time.  Blindfold the guest and guide her hand to the bowl.  Then start the timer and cheer her on!  The guest can just drop the pins she finds on the table around the bowl.  When she's done, count the number of pins she found.  The one with the most pins wins!

Variations:  You can do this with one LARGE bowl, with everyone trying to get the pins at the same time.  This works well with a smaller group, but will probably end up with a lot more rice on the floor!

You can also give point values to the various sizes.  Smaller ones are of course harder to find, so they should be worth more.

Small:       3 points
