The White Stuff Game
Preparation Time: 15 minutes, unless you have to shop for everything
Duration: about 10 or fifteen minutes
Ingredients needed: Ziploc bags, masking tape, lots of white dry ingredients (see list)
Description: This is a great game for a cooking shower! Ziploc bags, each containing a different white ingredient, are passed around. Guests have to figure out what each ingredient is. They can poke and prod at the bags, but they can't open them. The one with the most correct answers wins!
How to get ready: Most of the ingredients you might have lying around, but you might have to add a few to your stockpile to get enough. Label 10 ziploc bags 1-10 with masking tape and a permanent marker. Also create a Master List of all the ingredients. Put about a tablespoon of each ingredient into the bags, marking on the Master List what's in each bag as you go.
When the guests are assembled, give them each a piece of paper and a pen, then pass around the ingredients. Once time is up, gather up the ingredients, then go through each, 1 to 10, using your Master List to tell the guests what each bag contains.
Helpful stuff: Here's a list of common white "stuff":
Arrowroot (ok, so this isn't as common...)
Baking Soda
Baking Powder
Bisquick
Coffee Creamer
Cornstarch
Cream of Tartar
Detergent
Equal
Flour
Potato Flakes
Powdered Milk
Powdered Sugar
Meringue Powder
Salt
Sugar
Gelatin
It is your choice whether you let the guests open the bags or not, to smell, touch and taste the ingredients, but that would be kind of a giveaway for most of these, and downright dangerous if you use Detergent or another non-food item.
Fun Stuff: I'm looking for a better name for this game - any suggestions are welcome!
Credits: I learned of this game from my friend Annette, who also provided most of the list of ingredients.
